WEEKEND OF DISCUSSION AND DEBATE

FOR ANTI-RACISTS FROM BRITAIN AND EUROPE

FRIDAY 13 • SUNDAY 15 JULY

Europe's rulers have their disagree- -ments over wine lakes and butter mountains. But they are unanimous on the need to make foreign workers carry the can for the capitalist crisis •In Germany Kohl's right-wing government has forced more than 30 000 migrant workers to accept 'voluntary' repatriation in the past six months •In Mitterrand's socialist France riot police raid immigrant quarters and round up 'illegals' for deportation, while black workers face mass redundancies at the Peugeot and Citroen car plants •in Holland a pro-repatriation party recently won 10 per cent of the vote in Rotterdam's local elections The European labour movement is doing little to protect 12 million immigrant workers and their families from this racist offensive. How can anti-racistsmatch Enoch Powell's call for 'concerted European action on immigration? Discuss the issues and get organised at Preparing for Power.

Workers Against Racism The miners' strike in Britain, carworkers' occupations in France, the metalworkers' strike in Germany - in recent months millions of workers across Europe have moved into battle against their employers.

Our class is fighting for its survival. But it cannot succeed if the labour movement remains divided along national and racicl lines.

When Peugeot carworkers - mostly immigrants - went on strike near Paris in January, the bosses used hired scabs to whip up racism on the shopfloor and smash up the dispute.

British trade union leaders added insult to injury by offering to take on work from the strike-bound Peugeot plant.

Racism has always been a problem. But in the eighties it threatens to become a plague. The pressures of recession have made racism respectable.

State attacks on blacks are accepted - and even encouraged - by the leaders of the labour movement. The spread of racism into every aspect of life cannot be fought by appeals to reason. Racism will not go away until workers destroy it. That's why WORKERS AGAINST RACISM aims to build an anti-racist movement on the power of the organised working class.

WAR campaigns - in the unions and on the streets - against all immigration controls, and for workers' defence against racist attacks. Once we drive the racists out of our ranks and take up the fight for black workers' rights, the workers united will never be defeated. Join us!
