CONFERENCE
THE PRESENT PHASE of imperialism is one of instability and growing rivalry.
The balance of power established under the domination of US imperialism after the Second World War has been de-stabilised during the past decade. A new battle to redivide the world is now beginning to take place, Today imperialist competition means political and military intervention in Africa and the Middle East.
The Revolutionary Communist Tendency is holding a three day conference on imperialism in September. The aim of this conference is to discuss the present tendencies of imperialism and assess their significance for the working class movement. For revolutionaries this discussion has an immediate practical relevance. Clarity on these issues is essential for arming the workers' movement against the imperialist offensive. Imperialism in the eighties will be of interest to revolutionaries around the world. Speakers from a number of countries have been invited to contribute; there will be maximum opportunity for discussion and debate. Sessions have been organised on the following subjects: "Imperialism - the current phase *British imperialism and Ireland •Imperialist rivalries in the EEC *Imperialism, racism and immigrant workers *The battle for Africa *Zimbabwe *Tran *Debate on the theory of imperialism *Afghanistan and imperialism *National liberation movements *West German imperialism For further information, agenda, suggested readings and venue, write to Helen Swift, BM RCT, London WCIV 6XX or watch for it in the next step.

IRELAND'S VICTORY MEANS BRITAIN'S DEFEAT
Britain is at war in Ireland. It is a war within the framework of the United Kingdom that crisis-stricken Britain cannot afford to lose. The Irish people are fighting the poverty and oppression of British domination: they are determined to defeat imperialism. The British working class could play a decisive role in ensuring Britain's defeat and thus advance the cause of socialism in Ireland and in Britain. 35 p p&p BCM JPLTD, LONDON WCIV 6XX
